  • New Destiny 2 Gambit Mode Will Support Matchmaking
  • Those worried that Destiny 2: Forsaken’s new Gambit mode was going to require pre-formed fireteams to enter need not. Developer Bungie has confirmed that Gambit will be a matchmade activity, so anyone from solo players to full groups can enter into the playlist.

That’s good news as it ensures that anyone who plays Destiny 2: Forsaken can dive into the new mode. Some fans who played it early seem very excited about the hybrid PvPvE mode, and more reactions are sure to come out from those who go hands on with Gambit this coming week at E3.

For those unfamiliar with Gambit, it’s a whole new competitive mode in Destiny 2 that blends both PvE and PvP sides of the game. Two teams of four will go head-to-head on different, separated sides of an arena in which they compete to kill PvE enemies, collect Motes that those enemies drop, and bank enough Motes to summon a final boss, being the first to defeat it. The extra PvP twist comes in with the collection of Motes—banking 5, 10, or 15 Motes at a time will block the other team from being able to bank their Motes; and by reaching 25 and 50 Motes, teams can send one of their own over to the other team’s side of the arena to do some straight PvP action and disrupt their game.

Gambit will be new content coming in the Destiny 2: Forsaken DLC this September, along with a story campaign and more. As for some of the game’s other big changes coming alongside Forsaken in Update 2.0.0 like weapon slots and random weapon rolls, Bungie announced yesterday that all those features will be available to all players.
